How to lose weight by dancing

The latest craze to hit the dancercise world is Zumba! In 1999, a celebrity fitness trainer called Beto Perez invented this fun, different and effective new exercise called Zumba in America.

It is a fun and fast way to get fit. Zumba is a dancercise class influenced by latin and other cultural dances. It is a mix of beats, shaking, rattling and rolling mixed in with resistance training and aerobic conditioning. It is based on a combination of interval training and body sculpting and in an easy to follow dance format. This is truly a fun way to shed those calories and groove your body into super shape!

The best and easiest way to exercise is to do something that you look forward to doing. It is challenging to do regular exercise that is boring and feels too much like hard work. With Zumba the fun element is super high and the boredom element virtually non-existent.

The best exercise is exercise you actually look forward to doing. According to Perez, the inventor of Zumba, this is that type of exercise. “It’s fun and addictive. It’s wonderful to see so many people having fun while getting fit. I think the terrific Latin rhythms in the program have taken the ‘work’ out of working out,” he adds.

A typical Zumba class is more like a party than a work-out and is rapidly spreading across the world with thousands of classes all over and as many, if not more dvd's available. So you will have a choice between joining a Zumba class or doing Zumba in the comfort of your own living room.

To promote a Zumba class, health clubs or other fitness facilities must have their instructors trained through the Zumba Basic Skills Instructor Training workshop. The instructors must receive nine hours of instruction and a certificate of completion before they can officially lead a Zumba class.

A lot of Zumba participants get so hooked on it that they undergo the training to become instructors themselves! Visit www.zumba.com to find classes near you, purchase dvd's or become an instructor!
